On premises conversational AI platforms (2026)
Of 34 enterprise conversational AI platforms compared, 14 document on premises (on prem) deployment in a public source, and 7 of those also document air gapped deployment. Here is who they are and what to check before you buy.

Cloud, private cloud, on premises or air gapped?
Cloud (SaaS)
The vendor runs the platform in its own cloud and you use it as a service. Fastest to start, but data and models sit in the vendor's environment.
Typical for: teams without strict data residency rules
Private cloud
The platform runs in a dedicated environment, often in your own AWS, Azure or Google Cloud account, so you control the region and network.
Typical for: enterprises with residency rules that accept a cloud provider
On premises
The platform runs in your own data center on your own hardware. You control the infrastructure, the data and, with a local model, the AI itself.
Typical for: banks, insurers and governments with sovereignty requirements
Air gapped
An on premises installation with no connection to the internet. Updates and models arrive through a controlled process, never over a live link.
Typical for: defense, intelligence and the most sensitive banking workloads
Platforms that document their on premises position
Platforms that document on premises deployment, plus any whose own sources say it is not offered. Every value links to its source; the full set of 34 platforms is in the platform comparison.

What to check before you buy on premises
- 1
Where do the models run?
On premises software that still calls a public LLM API is not on premises AI. Ask whether you can bring your own LLM or host open weight models locally.
- 2
Is it the same product?
Some vendors offer fewer features on premises than in their cloud. Ask for a feature parity list and the release cadence for on premises versions.
- 3
Do the certifications cover it?
Certifications such as SOC 2 or PCI DSS often cover the vendor's cloud only. Ask which deployment models are in scope.
- 4
Who runs updates?
Agree who installs updates and security patches, how often, and how that works in an air gapped environment.
- 5
What hardware does it need?
Local models need GPUs. Get sizing for your volumes, including peak load and voice, which is more demanding than chat.
- 6
Is it still offered to new customers?
On premises options get retired. Check that the vendor sells it today, not only supports existing installations.
How Blits.ai runs on premises
Blits.ai publishes this page, so weigh its position accordingly. The platform is Kubernetes native and deploys to any public or private cloud, into your own data center, or fully air gapped. Models can run inside your environment: bring your own LLM, host open weight models, or connect to the providers you approve.
The same platform runs as a managed service with dedicated EU and UAE production regions, so a bank can start managed and move on premises later without rebuilding. It is ISO 27001, ISO 42001, SOC 2 Type II and PCI DSS Level 1 certified.
