How Cathay Pacific uses AI

Cathay, the airline group that operates Cathay Pacific, rolled out GitHub Copilot, agent mode and Copilot Autofix as it unified development and security on the GitHub platform. Cathay, the airline group that operates Cathay Pacific, was among the first companies in Hong Kong to adopt Microsoft 365 Copilot. Microsoft's customer story describes Cathay's employees using Copilot in Microsoft Teams to summarise meeting highlights and action items and to generate meeting lists with topics, timings and attendees, alongside condensing long reports into summaries. Cathay Pacific trialled Honeywell's GoDirect Connected Maintenance program on its Airbus A330 fleet, which combines aircraft connectivity with data analytics to predict when auxiliary power unit (APU) parts need to be fixed or replaced. Honeywell's own announcement of the trial results reports that the program reduced APU related delay minutes by 51%, demonstrated up to 35% fewer inoperative systems and saved Cathay Pacific several hundred thousand dollars in operational and reactive maintenance costs per aircraft, with a false positive rate of less than 1%. Based on these trial results, Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon signed a contract for Honeywell to outfit the APU program on more than 60 of their Airbus A330 aircraft.
